Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.

Northrop Grumman is currently seeking an experienced Systems Analyst to provide support to our IS Engineering, Quality & Manufacturing Applications team in either our Promontory, UT or Chandler, AZ offices.

The Systems Analyst is responsible for analyzing and understanding business needs then driving process efficiency, striving for standardization and consolidation across the enterprise. This role works closely with IS and business personnel across the enterprise as a partner and resource to ensure application availability, upgrades and performance with a continuous focus on process and cost improvement, and compliance of our key commercial of-the-shelf (COTS) enterprise engineering applications: ECAD, MCAD, CAE, PLM, simulation and analysis, and software engineering. Frequent interactions with IS Infrastructure and Security teams are critical aspects of the position to ensure smooth operations, prevent problems and improve systems’ performance as well as keep our company’s data safe.

Job Duties:

  • Design, implement and manage an enterprise wide software license management infrastructure that offers high availability and license monitoring while facilitating cost efficiencies of enterprise license sharing
  • Install and upgrade license manager systems, related license files and perform moderate to high-level application license problem support
  • Manage application installs and licensing and apply application security for the designated enterprise business applications
  • Project manages application upgrades and patching including auxiliary applications as part of the release and change management process
  • Coordinate license maintenance renewals and license agreements between the business, the vendor and internal Supply Chain
  • Optimize the license agreements so that they balance budgetary goals while; complying with company requirements and standards, and minimizing risk impact to the business
  • Recommend and set standards for hardware based on software requirements
  • Provide application technical support; troubleshooting and resolving Tier 2 application issues often in conjunction with the functional subject matter experts, scripting, interacting/coordinating with vendors
  • Proactively monitor and troubleshoot the license management system performance and license usage of engineering software, and ensure successful annual audits
  • Follow ITIL-base processes for Change Management, Incident Management and Problem Management including communication of application service interruptions
  • Initiate best practices of disaster recovery, performance and security of applications
  • Work with the team to create and maintain documentation for standard procedures and support requirements and participate in cross-training with other team members
  • Available for after-hours work such as software updates and on-call support based on team rotation
  • Participate in and lead technology enhancements and related projects
  • Support/Direct Local Site Administrators

Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Engineering, Engineering or related field: or combination of education and equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience including experience in application administration , CAD, CAE, PLM or Engineering simulation/analysis tools and ITIL/ITSM based service desk tool
  • Experience providing Tier 2 or higher operation support for multiple enterprise based applications in a 24/7 service environment
  • Experience with Deltek, Costpoint or other ERP preferred
  • Ability to travel; travel expectation up to 10%
  • Security regulations require that the individual must be a U.S. Citizen AND be eligible to successfully obtain a government issued security clearance

Experience Preferred:

  • Computer applications programming and/or administration
  • Application software testing and deployment
  • User application software support and user training
  • Engineering configuration management and/or systems engineering

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of FlexLM type application license management technologies
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts specifically in a Windows virtualized environment
  • Working knowledge of database and web server technologies
  • Familiar with application integration concept and technologies
  • Knowledge of how internal control procedures and documentation is to be maintained for compliance as a public company and a government contractor is a plus
  • Project management skills (definition, build, test and deployment of application software)
  • Engineering processes and products experience (Drawings, Specifications, Reports, Test Plans, BOMs, Models, etc.)
  • Service-oriented and customer focused
  • Desire to go “above and beyond” to deliver tangible results in a dynamic environment with continuously changing needs and priorities
  • Ability to communicate across different levels of the organization
  • Understanding of project management concepts is a plus
  • Ability to balance customer service and long-term sustainable
