You’ll have the opportunity to support a wide range of program types: small mission/concept studies, medium-sized technology demonstration programs, and large-scale national system programs.

Our NSS programs include technical roles at the mission, segment, subsystem and component level. It also spans the entire program life cycle from early concept studies, design development, system integration/test, launch and early ops, mission ops/sustainment and system disposal.

Successful candidates for this position will work in a technical role for the National Security Systems (NSS) business area. This position offers the opportunity to work on exciting, cutting-edge programs and new mission areas. The program will be based in NGIS’s Dulles VA location and may require some travel. Duties include significant contributions to mission systems engineering activities. This may include system modeling and simulation, mission analysis, mission planning, mission ops support, developing engineering reports from advanced studies, special engineering investigations, systems integration/interfaces, requirements/V&V, and occasional Business Development support and similar activities.

The candidate should be knowledgeable in system-of-systems engineering, space vehicle design and operations, ground segments, segment interfaces, payloads, and/or mission operations. Advanced analyses capability relating to complex mission problems may be required, as is the ability to develop and support home-grown mission analysis tools. The role will include interface with clients, as well as regular interactions with internal engineering associates and program management. Candidate may be called on to assist in new business activities such as conceptual design and analysis for proposals and funded studies, and may include authoring sections for both.

Desired experience should include one or more of the following: mission system requirements, verification/validation planning, mission planning/execution, mission analysis, modeling/simulation, system trade studies, and expertise with various engineering tools such as MATLAB, STK, and similar tools.

REQUIREMENTS:

Requires BS in Engineering & 10 years or Masters in Engineering & 7 years or PhD in Engineering & 5 years.
