Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.
Recommend options to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Review and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, technical manuals, and specifications. Gather information in support of trade studies. Conduct tests and record data.
Gathers information, makes studies, develops and designs intermediate to complex mechanical and/or electro-mechanical components and/or assemblies. Develops layouts, performs tolerance stack-up analysis, and details drawings in accordance with engineering standards. Understands and utilizes geometric tolerancing methods to check fit, form, and function. Determines methods and procedures, and provides guidance to more junior Designers.
- Creates and modifies intermediate to complex CAD models and drawings.
- Creates layouts and tolerance stacks.
- Applies concepts and principles of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing into design. Makes suggestions for tolerancing solutions.
- Executes complex designs of mechanisms and/or electronics, including tooling, gaging, and special test equipment. Incorporates DFA/DFM techniques. Performs tolerance analysis to ensure proper form fit and function.
Education and Experience
This position requires BS & 5 years or equivalent combination of education & experience.
