Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.
This Engineering Manager position reports to the Director of Dulles Operations, and is responsible for Functional management of the electrical engineers and technicians performing satellite integration and test activities at the Dulles SMF.
Responsible for managing technical personnel assigned to the department, as well as ensuring qualified and appropriate personnel (and supporting processes and tooling, etc) are assigned to meet the needs of all programs. In addition, this position is directly responsible for the processes for completing work in their assigned functional field.
Ideal candidate shall possess a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, plus ten years of related spaceflight industry experience.
Candidate must possess demonstrated management and leadership skills, including excellent interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication ability.
Responsible for managing technical, schedule, cost, and resources across multiple Programs. This includes identifying and addressing program risks to ensure integration success, training - mentoring staff in standard processes, "problem solving", facilitating technical solutions based on sound engineering practices, providing staff with the appropriate resources to solve problems, tracking program and department schedules, working to identify key parameters and metrics to increase efficiency and reduce program costs, plan manpower requirements, and performing quarterly and annual performance reviews of staff.
Identify, allocate staff, and manage the processes required to electrically integrate and test multiple systems simultaneously in the Dulles factory. Generate planning to ensure that integration and test activities are carried out as scheduled. Establish schedules and work flows that can quickly adapt to changing priorities.
A BA/BS in Engineering or equivalent exp. is required.
Must have excellent knowledge of space systems with 8 yrs of Electrical/Systems Engineering experience and 8 yrs of Functional Management experience of an electrical organization.
Ability to establish schedules and work flows with the capability to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
Experience managing production integration teams.
