Sr Electrical Engineer

Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.
Based on specific objectives, perform analysis, design, or test of complex designs without detailed direction from more senior engineers. Study design concepts and criteria to ascertain the engineering principles involved and with general direction, plan, prepare, and complete the design. Evaluate completed design with more senior engineers and other technical groups and make modifications necessary to achieve a design that satisfies requirements. Develop, coordinate, and conduct the test programs required to evaluate the design. May also oversee, with senior engineer oversight, component supplier design, analysis, manufacture, and test.
Must have system engineering, and circuit design/analysis skills in the design and development of power systems and high speed analog & digital electronics.
Must be able to work in a team environment with other engineering disciplines (thermal, structural, PCB designers, etc.) and managers in the development of circuit designs for space flight and ground system programs. Responsible for the design/analysis efforts to ensure that designs are in compliance with established standards and program requirement.
Candidate will work at Northop Grumman's Technical Services Division (TSD) in Beltsville, Maryland supporting various space flight and ground system programs from Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) and/or the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL).
Education and Experience
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Requires BS in Engineering & 4 years or Masters in Engineering & 2 years.
- Must be proficient with schematic development and PSPICE using one of the following design tools: Mentor Graphics PADS/DxDesigner, Cadence OrCAD, and/or Altium.
- Must be proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office products. Proficiency with Excel VBA is a plus.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and customer interface skills are required.
- Experience with NASA specifications for the development of electromechanical hardware is a plus but not required.
