Successful candidates for this position will work in a lead technical role for the ESPAStar program in Dulles VA, in the NSS business area within the Space Systems Group at Northrop Grumman. This Systems Engineering role is responsible for leading the Systems Engineering technical team, which includes the following duties: systems analysis and trades, coordinating Vehicle Systems engineering activities, engineering baseline management, interface management, requirements/B&V management, subcontractor technical oversight, CAM/EVMS duties, preparing/presenting SE material at all major reviews and PMR’s and interfacing with the customer and SETA’s on all space segment technical issues.

The responsibilities includes both individual-contributor and leadership roles, within a multi-disciplined engineering team. Successful candidate will also be called upon to support other activities, including architecture studies, mission support, and traditional Systems Engineering functions. In this senior-level role, the Space Segment Lead Engineer is expected to be self-directed using previous experience to lead design, analysis and execution efforts. Candidates must be able to recognize and mitigate space-segment technical issues and risks while operating within budget and on schedule.

 Responsibilities:

•Lead/Provide major support to the entire ESPAStar technical team.

•Lead and optimize space vehicle design, processing and mission success.

•Troubleshoot and develop solutions to complex problems that the program may encounter.

•Develop, author and/or provide input to major program data products and other deliverables.

•Technical management of program elements

•Planning and conduct of technical reviews and technical baseline

•Writing status and technical performance reviews and reports

•Mentor, coach, train, guide, direct and advise junior staff

 Written and Verbal Communication:

 The candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation experience and the ability to work with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the program team.

Education & Requirements:

Requirements (at minimum: education and years of experience):

The candidate must have a current TS/SCI; current access to one or more ESPAStar programs preferred

•Must have a Bachelors degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering or related technical field, and 10 years of applicable experience, or a Masters Degree and 7 years of applicable experience.

•Extensive technical experience in systems engineering and integration of complex systems – a minimum of 10 years of applicable experience (or 7 years with a Masters Degree) in space systems development, manufacture, test or operations, including 2 years of technical or project leadership positions.

•Ability to lead a diverse multi-discipline Engineering team
