Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems is seeking an individual experienced in System Survivability to provide technical leadership as a Staff Systems Engineer at our location in Northridge in Southern California.

Job Summary

This role is a Staff Systems Engineer and key technical contributor supporting a diverse portfolio of internally and externally funded technology development, systems design and systems analysis activities.  The assignment is supporting our Advanced Programs portfolio working with a multidisciplinary team to identify, develop, and integrate survivability technologies into our systems and products.  This role requires extensive experience in survivability research, design and development as well as related experience in the missions of and development of military autonomous flight vehicles.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Use of various computational electromagnetics analysis tools to support the design of complex military flight vehicles.

  2. Perform trade studies, requirements development, and solution optimization in support of survivability requirements and system designs to arrive at a balanced system solution.

  3. Apply experience in the integration, testing, and verification of survivable systems and components.

  4. Apply experience in development and integration of survivability materials in support of systems solutions in survivability.

  5. Perform survivability mission analysis using government-sanctioned tools and analysis methods

  6. Apply experience in providing support of project activities as part of an IPT such as technology maturity assessments, risk analysis, opportunity analysis, technology roadmaps, and proposal development.

  7. Technical expertise for requirements, product development, integration, performance assessment and verification of propulsion for electromagnetics components and systems. 

  8. Recommend proper courses of action taking into account identified risks, requirements, budgetary constraints, and program schedules.

Education and Experience

  1. Subject Matter Expertise in Survivability Engineering
  2. Model fabrication and test facilities
  3. Prior experience in aerospace systems and vehicle conceptual design related to survivability. 
  4. Multi-disciplinary engineering skills in aerospace systems development.
  5. Experience proposing and leading successful R&D efforts in survivability technologies.
  6. Well-versed, skilled and disciplined in system engineering processes
  7. Excellent communications and technical management skills required, as it will involve direct interface with customers and suppliers.
  8. 10 years minimum experience in systems design engineering for survivability
  9. BS, MS, or PhD degree in electrical engineering or related; graduate coursework in applied electromagnetic theory desired
  10. Must hold or qualify for a DoD Secret Clearance; Top  Secret desired
