Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.

The Mechanical Engineer will perform analysis, design, or test of one or more moderately complex or portions of complex materials, structural components, and functional systems of company products.

Specific job responsibilities include:

  • Analyze requirements for materials, structural component, or functional systems.
  • Perform analysis, design, or test of one or more moderately complex or portions of complex materials, structural components, and functional systems.
  • Apply theoretical knowledge and engineering techniques to the solution of more complex components, structures, and sub-assemblies.
  • Makes thoughtful and valuable suggestions and recommendations for improving individual or group work
  • Perform design, development, analysis, and/or test activities to support assigned projects.
  • Establish requirements for materials, structural components, and functional systems.
  • Release results as design data after review from other engineers.
  • Determine engineering tasks required for project planning and execution.
  • Develop original ideas on preliminary design concepts with other technical groups and make modifications necessary to achieve the ideal design.
  • Document results of analysis, test, and design activities.

Education and Experience

  • Requires BS in Engineering & 2 years of experience or Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
