Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
With minimal supervision, this candidate will predict acoustic environments on launch vehicles and payloads using FEA, SEA, and BEM techniques coupled with first principal fundamentals. The candidate will also assist in the design of mitigations strategies to reduce the launch vehicle acoustics caused by lift-off and transonic. Specific duties will include modeling, and data reduction. Candidate must be able to understand scope of tasks, perform analysis using appropriate classical and computer aided techniques, and prepare results for presentation.
- Must have prior experience with either VA-One or Wave6
- Previous launch vehicle experience desired
- Some work experience dealing with vibration, shock, and/or acoustic, or course work that focuses in these areas
- Demonstrated interest in dynamic mechanical systems (course work or past experience)
- Good problem solving skills
- Ability to deal with incomplete problem definitions and find solutions
- Experience with Matlab or Python
Must be proficient with either VA-One or Wav6. Working knowledge of environmental testing, procedures, and requirements is required. Specific experience with military or aerospace programs in accordance with MIL-STD-1540 or MIL-STD-810 desirable and familiarity with SMC-S-016 is a plus. Data reduction experience including spectral analysis (SPL, SRS, PSD) and filtering is desirable. Ability to perform fundamental analytical modeling techniques and prepare written analyses is required. Working knowledge of MS office, Matlab, and FEA software desirable, NX Nastran preferred. U.S. citizenship required. Current secret clearance desired.
A Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) in Engineering, Physics. MSME, MSAE preferred. Minimum of four years experience in aerospace or related field.

Requires BS in Engineering & 4 years or Masters in Engineering & 2 years.
