Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.

Northrop Grumman is currently seeking an experienced Principal Engineering Technician to join our Florida Operations team in our Kennedy Space Center, FL offices.

Role description & Responsibilities:

The Principal Engineering Technician is responsible to work closely with engineering to perform detailed electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and thermal protection systems application, assembly, and check-out operations.   Candidate must be well organized and be expected to status engineers and management, support release of tooling designs, have experience with the Maximo system and other computer based shop assembly instructions.

Job Duties: 

  • Multitask between various engineer inputs and projects while also supporting hands on fit checks and mechanical electro-mechanical assembly.

  • Regular status updates to engineering and leaders

Experience Requirements:  

·        Candidate must have a minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience in aerospace flight hardware processing or aviation.

  • Ability to travel:  Travel expectation of 10%-20%

Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Broad understanding of Maximo system and computer based shop assembly instructions.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency with hands-on mechanical/electro-mechanical assembly and thermal protection material applications.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Detail oriented but able to understand the big picture.


·        4-6 years of experience with AA degree in Engineering or certificate as Engineering Technician or related field required.
